Key Stage 4 - AiDA

AiDA is part of Edexcel's DiDA (Diploma in Digital Applications) qualification.

AiDA (Award in Digital Applications) is equivalent to a single GCSE.  It is practical hands on course that is assessed via a project that is set by the exam board.  The student will complete an electronic collection of evidence which forms an e-portfolio.  This first unit is called Using ICT.  Students have to demonstrate skills in planning, gathering information, working with a variety of software packages (such as spreadsheet, databases, Publisher, PowerPoint, word etc).  They also need to test and review their work and document progress.

I successful on the AiDA course, pupils who demonstrate the necessary potential may be offered the chance to do a second unit which, if successful, would lead to a CiDA (Certificate in Digital Applications) qualification which is equivalent to two GCSEs.  The unit we currently offer is based on multimedia.

The DiDA website if found at: http://dida.edexcel.org.uk/home/

At the start of the course time is spent teaching and revising the software.  When ready the teacher will direct pupils to the actual project (SPB) that they will be following.
